Kodu allows students to create games on the Windows systems and Xbox via a simple visual programming language. Students that like computers will love learning programming with Kodu! Kodu can be used to teach creativity, problem-solving, storytelling, as well as programming. Our students with no design or programming skills can make games, however, our class sessions will focus on team building, team coding, and the principles of making educational games that we hope will last longer than the class sessions. Kodu is a 3-D visual programming language, is user-friendly, and makes game design fun for students with customizable landscapes, objects, characters and a wealth of commands available with a click of an icon. Our goal is to teach them to present their games well and learn from others what goes into good game design. Student Designers can create simple, as well as advanced, visually appealing games and programs, and then play them with their friends and family safely by applying good care with saving and restoring their games after transporting their games by USB Flash drives to their Windows system. If the class size is four or more, we invite parents to join in helping to mentor their students.
